This campground feels like its near the middle of nowhere, if you like that sort of thing. It actually isn't too far out of Butler, in the heart of Amish country. You can see the horse and buggies occasionally go down the road. My only small complaint with this campground is the pull-through sites are a little small and the camp store did not have a lot: otherwise this is an enjoyable campground. Recently under new ownership, they are really trying to add more amenities to this place, although they already have the necessities. My kids had a great time with the heated pool, crafts, firetruck and wagon rides, and movie night. I'd recommend this place if you're looking to stay around the Mohican/Loudonville area where there is lots of biking, hiking and canoeing to do.
Very good all around campground. The sites were good size, where I didn't feel we were on top of each other. Heated pool is great, although wish it was bigger at times when it was the busiest time of day. Basketball court and sand volleyball court was maintained as well as an activity tent that had table tennis setup. Some activities were planned Friday and Saturday that my kids enjoyed. It was nice to see campground being monitored by the sheriff at night. Shower house was fairly clean and had plenty of hot water.
Very nice campground directly across the street from Alum Creek State Park. My only complaints are site sizes were a little short (had to park tow vehicle side-ways). Spacing between sites is fair. My family loved their stay and the kids found the pool and activities enjoyable. They didn't want to leave. Activities especially for the kids were planned throughout the weekend (movie, scavenger hunt, karaoke, tractor rides, spaghetti dinner.) The entire campground is paved blacktop and only gravel were you park your RV, so my kids found riding their bikes much easier. Many large Class A spent the weekend but there were RV's of all sizes. We'll definitely be returning in the future.
We camped here over Memorial Weekend. Overall the place is nice and clean but in the area we were in (Section N) the sites were very close together. For the money, you could find other places with similar amenities. Although there were activities planned each day, my kids (5 & 7) only found a few of them interesting and some of them cost extra. Since you are not allowed to bring wood in (due to Ash borer containment) you can buy it from the ranger station for $1 a log.
No frills park with an nice, moderate sized in-ground pool. Check-in was quick and easy, and I was escorted to my site so there was no searching and guessing where my site was. Gravel sites are level with decent space (not huge)between them. Overall place was clean with trash cans located throughout. Campground location is practically in the middle of town, but once inside seemed secluded enough. No activities planned at the campground the weekend we stayed, but we visited King's Island that is 10-15 minutes away. Playground is small but has basic swings, a slide and basketball court. I would stay here again if looking for a place to stay a few nights while visiting King's Island or other Cincinnati area attractions.
The good: heated pool, friendly staff, shaded. The bad: small uneven tight sites and hilly terrain. Trailers medium or big will have difficult time pulling into the campsites. I bent my rear jack due to the uneven roads. Also needed to engage 4WD to back into my site.
No scheduled activities. Playground for little kids was pathetic. Close to Cedar point and Lake Erie. Camp store had very little to offer. Only good if you plan on spending your entire day off camp property.
Nice campground, but not much to do. Over priced relative to what you get for your stay. Unless you have a boat to use on the lake, there is not much else to do in this area.
Baylor Beach is mainly a private swimming lake with a campground attached. The swimming lake is open to the public for a fee and no cost for the campers. The grounds were very nice with partial shade and well kept. Playgrounds were in good condition offered several functions (swings, slides, tunnels, etc...) Baylor Beach also offers a small separate paddle boat and canoe lake to use for a small fee. No fishing is allowed in either of the lakes. I recommend it if looking for a place to stay in this area.
